Wellness on Wednesday (WOW)
Arthritis can generally be divided into inflammatory and osteo- arthritis. The most common inflammatory arthritis includes rheumatoid, psoriatic, and gout. Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis. Even though it is not classified as inflammatory arthritis, it still exhibits increased inflammation associated with pain.
Arthritis is highly related to lifestyle. Addressing the six basic pillars of a healthy lifestyle can effectively manage arthritis. Most people do not associate food with arthritis, except in the gouty arthritis. However, adopting a whole food, plant-based diet has been proven to drastically reduce inflammation and pain in both inflammatory and osteo-arthritis.
Rochester Clinic embraces this opportunity to introduce a series of health talks on how lifestyle medicine can effectively manage arthritis.
